Yknow that guy who died in a bus... Oh yeah spoiler alert

Chris mccandles was very ambitious he thought he could do everything without consequences. Chris was as you probably guess was dead wrong. He triedto survive in the wilderness of Alaska... Not a happy ending. Chris McCandless had been living of the fat of the land f three years and had had a pretty successful run and thought he could survive the Alaska wild. Chris mccandlesses coming of age expierence was his death. In a way he never came of age he got to his goal but never achieved the full victory. Everyone expected so much of him there was no way this could be the beloved Chris they all knew and loved. Chris McCandless had left his former life and burned all his money and donated the rest to a charity.

Chris had travelled all over the country avoiding as much society as possible only working when he had too get money. Chris had to use his money to buy food when he needed. Chris learned that some things aren't good for you. Chris realized that the wild was not the place for him after he was done with his escapade and realized he was going to die. When Chris decided to make a last attempt to go upstream he knew he may not survive. Making this choice wad one of the lead ups to his coming of age experience. I believe Chris had many coming of age experiences leading up to his final one.

Chris has inspired many people in his journey to follow his road to live in the wilderness. So many people have made journeys into the wild and died but Chris thought he was different. That was Chris's weak point he would never admit he was the same as everyone else. Chris would read Thoreau and philosophical literature that would influence his actions in "walking into the wild". Chris was in actuality quite different he was a very hard worker and never gave up. Chris just wasn't different in the way that would make a difference in surviving the Alaskan wild.

Coa blog post

In the book Into The Wild by Jon Krakeur it shows an aspect of people that many don't see or ever experience. This book tells of a twenty year old boy that is connected to nature and has a lust to escape civilization. Sure now you think I'm going to go on ranting about how he was so abnormal and he had aspects other people don't. This is different this book tells of this boy who was an actual person named Christopher McCandless. Chris set off on a journey to hitch hike across America and then eventually get to Alaska. This book is very inspirational for me because Chris gave away what he had and completely started over something all people want to do at one point or another in their life.

Many people have gone out into the wilderness and have come bounding back but Christopher McCandless has spent numerous months by himself providing himself with only the resources of nature. Knowing this is what makes it even more suprising that he was found dead. Chris new about nature and had been living in these conditions for over three years. Christopher inspired many people by the way he lived. I find that the way he decided to start over again is an admirable trait. He burned all of his money and worked for money when he needed it to buy supplies. I feel there is always a person in your life that is capable of anything they want to do you just don't know who they are yet. People have become lazy and reliant on other Chris wanted to make himself self reliant and wanted to be the best he could be.

Everyone should have a passion of their own and should be able to follow through on it. Christopher mcCandless was able to follow his passion and was wildly successful with his goals... Long term not so much. People say life is short so live freely but if you live too freely life will be very short. A lot can be learned from Chris but most people just take life for granted and play it as if they will live forever. This is way too much to write in a blog post and who am I to tell people how to live in a response to a book. Chris McCandless lived like every day was his last. You can compare this to eigth grade, you know it's going to end but you never bother to think when. Like life eighth grade has had fond memories, angry memories, and sad memories. If you put things in full scale life is much more complicated but Chris shows me at least to live and don't do anything you wont regret later on in your life.

Romeo and Juliet

In Baz lurmans adaption of romeo and Juliet he uses the symbolism of Jesus in a lot of his scenes. i think he uses Jesus to symbolize that there is someone watching over Romeo and Juliet like how Romeo is always talking about fate. I think that they used Jesus as a sign that there is a greater force controlling your every move, although in this case fate doesn't have the most pleasant ending. I also think Jesus may be a sort of i brought you into this world and i can take you out character because with them in the first scene to the last.

another thing I noticed is that all odds are against romeo and Juliet and they are still able to come together as one couple sort of the happily ever after that never happened. I always wonder to myself what would happen if Romeo was more stubborn and didn't go to the party. a thing that plays a hug role in the story is that romeo is a pushover because he doesn't ever really oppose anyones will until  he kills Tybalt. things in the movie get more interesting after that happens because he sort of goes rogue and travels into the countryside.

one thing i realize in the story is that there is always a sense of disapproval from the parent,s or Tybalt, or the nurse, or Mercutio. i think that this disapproval may have even brought the characters closer together for a sort of rebellious cause to prove something. I think hat the story of romeo and Juliet may have been based on an event or a secret love in Shakespeare's life. there is an aspect in the movie that isnt in the book so much and it's that Romeo is sort of a party pooper and only focuses on love in his life.

I think that Romeo has really supportive friends and family and they want the best for him. Juliet on the other hand is a different story her family doesn't care for her and she is a free spirit not wanting to be controlled by anything.  Juliet's father cares about her wile romeo's doesn't so much  so it's almost as if their families are completely different. is that purposeful or a coincidence? i think that this may have been a purposeful choice by William Shakespeare to really show their different after all opposites attract.

super blog

the three blogs i chose to look at were Daniel's blog, MY blog, these books we live in. all of these blogs are from Ms.Galangs class.

All of these blog posts are poems and i really enjoy them because they all have a very different aspect to them.for example Daniel uses objects to describe his feelings towards the board of education in NYC because it is effecting him and he is using his personal experiences to make a genuinely interesting view to the education in NYC. in Preston's blog he uses a little boy to simplify something much bigger because it as if you send out a spy and you think they die and then they come back with important information but it's closer to your heart because it's a little boy instead of a spy. in Johny's blog he describes the Mona Lisa in a very interesting way how she looks and her back story in a way.

painted poetry complete with murder in side me super calafragilisticexpealadochus gang green and meat grinders!

black, yellow, red, and blue the colors of the murder inside me

the beast slowly consuming my dreams and hopes as the memories reappear

meat grinders

people slowly are dragged away as this land is no longer

supercalafragilisticexpealadochus and is left to gang green

meat grinders

they came from the hills destroying the suburban people

putting the bodies through they're snarling teeth turning them into bloody wood chips

meat grinders

i only hoped they would go easy on the children but they didn't

they gave them gang green and tickled them until they were stumps

meat grinders

i watched as the euphoria of Pitts Burg was destroyed in front of my eyes

they ate all of the cosmo magazines and burned our vitamin water and soda

meat grinders

i feel jumping into a meat grinder as an emotion, am i crazy

or was it the meat grinders that made me this way

Flanders field

In Flanders fields the poppies blow (1)
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

in this poem it stirs up lots of conflict because it has soldiers in a cemetery the had lived only a couple of days ago. i assume that these people were killed in action but they may have died in an accident. it talks about fond memories of their lives before they died. if i were the person who wrote this poem i would include family members and memories of them and have final words to them. the narrator was a soldier in the battle  in which he and his con rads died in.he speaks of memories that he now cherishes because he can no longer see them. this character reminds me of someone very wise who once made a wrong decision and suffered greatly for it. the poem also ends with a peaceful ending and an image of peace and calmness. i guess that this symbolizes happiness the ending and peace in going to the next world.

the city of glass #2

Clary the main character in the story has met her mother who is now well and in Idris with after recovering from  a drugged sleep. Clary has just found out that her supposed "brother is actually not related to her but a family friends. see that seems fine but the baby was cut out of his mothers stomach before she died at nine months pregnant. First of all that is just sick and cannot be redeemed but this was Clary's father the evil antagonist valentine who experimented on his own children with demon and angel blood.

I can connect to this because i have seen the movie the x-files 2 which is about a guy who cuts off peoples body parts for another guy who has lung cancer. It's the same sort of experimental jist but worse in a way. Is it ever okay to ever experiment on your own children before they are born? My answer to that question is no and i don't get why any father would be able to harm their own unborn child that they are going to nurture and take care of.

Valentine answer is that he wants to create a super race of people that will be able to do much more than any normal shadow hunter would be able to do. This reminds me of world war two and the nazi regime and how they experimented on their captives for their own safety. except this is not for his own safety this for Valentines self gain.

the city of...... wha?

in this part of the city of glass the lightwoods have just been shortened by one because the youngest child ha just been killed. little max was only nine years old, he was killed by his family member who was actually a spy for valentine. sebastian killed max so he would not witness the attack on Alicante. many other people were killed in this attack but max was a key person even though he was a minor character  he was still an important icon of  innocence. Maxs death has left the lightwoods hurt and sorrowful, many others have died in this attack too so there are more shadow hunter families  unavailable. this being so I predict that now is the time valentine will strike.

The Love The Conflict And The Secret

In the City Of Glass there is a Love, a secret, and conflict.

The Love is shared between a brother and a sister, Jace and Clary. in this love that they share they are inclined to be together even though they are brother and sister and they know it is wrong.  they feel inclined to love each other I think that this is so because they did not grow up together and do not know what it is like for siblings to love each other. I  also think  that they love each other because they aren't completely brother and sister this will be explained when the secret is revealed.

The Secret of Clary and Jace is that they are not completely shadow hunters. It turns out that their sick and twisted father distorted them while they were being conceived. Their father Valentine enhanced Jace's DNA with demon blood and angel blood so he is a divine and damned being so he is created into the perfect warrior. Clary's blood is infused with only the blood of an angel, this makes her divine and enables her to create new runes that give people special powers. Clary is also able to create portals which supposedly only warlocks can do but she can do it just if she wants too.

Now for the Conflict. In the current part of the book the holy city of shadow hunters ( Alicante ) is under attack of Valentine and his demon army. He is attacking and destroying the city because he wants to show what he can do and become the ruler of the world and all that stuff. He needs help to take over Alicante from his two lovely children. they will not help him but he's doing it anyway so who knows what's gonna happen you'll have to find out next week heh heh heh.

the city of glass

in the book the city of glass by cassandra clare it explore the meanings of a secret love behind a relationship of brother and sister and how it effects their normal lives. everyone knows that clary and jace really love each other but to try and hide jace know is going out with a family friend. this is a big deal because no matter how hard clary tries she still loves her brother jace who can move on no matter how many people seem to love her she cant release her feelings for jace. this is problematic because he now hates her because she snuck into Idris the magical city of the shadow hunters. she had an encounter with him at the house were they were staying where he told her she is stupid and does not think about her actions before she does them. tis is a big deal because clary came expecting a warm welcome but instead got a slap in the face and it hurt so bad she is now using jace friend as a rebound guy.

city of what is now ashes

In the book the city of ashes by Cassandra Claire it brings up a lot of interesting topics such as unforeseen power deception and death. now as for unforeseen power the main character (Clary) has the power to create symbols that do different things called runes. runes can heal, destroy, or give you special skills. Clary can create new runes which do amazingly powerful things. for instance Clary made a rune which eliminates fear which in turn helps you but can actually be good for you at the same time. it can be good by giving you no fear towards a fight with a demon but at the same time make you unleash all of your deepest secrets. also in the end of the book  she made a rune which put all of her power into and completely destroyed a huge boat ripping all of the screws apart from everything. now for deception Clary's best friend simon is turned into a vampire and this happens because she upset him so he got reckless and got himself killed. now that he is a vampire he can not go out at sunrise which makes it difficult. also Clary is in love with Jace who is a supporting character who turned out to be her brother.

The City Of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments book 2)

In the book the City of Ashes By Cassandra Claire there are almost no scenes without action or suspense. This is so because being the sequel of City Of Bones this book takes place just after the main characters (Clary and Jace) father escaped from them threw a portal has now shown up and killed the silent brothers who are kind of like the monks of the shadow world. Their father valentine is a shadow hunter who has gone rogue and wants to destroy all of the shadow world so it may be pure for humans (so nice!). This may seem all great and everything but he is also a very good liar and trcked his own son into think he had a completely different identity so he grew up thiking this and the when he was reunited with his father BAM "surprise your my son". Now even though Clary and Jace oppose their evil father he can make them think his cause is just. and while this is all happening Clary's mother is in the hospital recovering from valentine bewitching her.

i know this is my second city of bones post! its along book ok!

yes this is mt second city of bones post. it is a very long book 438 pages. within the 38 pages there is a subplot. this subplot consists of how clarissa a shadow hunter that has no idea how to wield weapons, has a deep longing for her comrade who is arrogant and is not very self aware but a very skilled shadow hunter, jace. within this deep and profound longing there is love for each other which consists of anger  bewilderment and jealousy.

as soon as you get to get the jist of the book you think they are almost guaranteed gonna have one of those happily ever after boyfriend and girlfriend thing, no that would ruin the whole entire book. instead the author has it so it is more hidden and they are unaware but as the book goes on it gets more obvious. when they finally realize they have fallen for each (which almost made me stop reading the book) it is on clarissa's birthday how perfect. they kiss and then suddenly the antagonist never seen throughout the whole book shows up captures jace and leaves clarissa trapped.

when clarissa finally gets her act together she goes to her mothers best friends house and gets him to launch an attack on valentine the evil guy. so when she finally gets there jace is actually valentines son. and it turns out that she is too and they are brother and sister *gasp*. perfect love ruined shyes.

The City Of Bones

In the book The City Of Bones by Cassandra Clare, the character hodge is the mentor of three extrodinarilly talented shadow hunters(people who are half human and half angel dedicated to protectin humanity against demons evil super natural beings such as faeries, warlocks, and vampires, and werewolves). Hodge is a character that has deep thought and is the wise old hermit of the story but at the same time has something else going on. The reason he is so hermity if thats a word, is because he is cursed to stay in one place for his entire being. this curse is cast upon him by the clave (a magical society in which is like our supreme court but made up of super natural beings). This curse was descended on him because he was once part of a circle of evil shadow hunters that were devoted to killing all down worlders involving demons, faeries, forsaken, warlocks, vampires, and werewolves. This is terrible because the shadow hunters are suppoed to be living in harmony with the down worlders so they do not completely destroy each others species.

The way the down worlders and the shadow hunters keep this truce going is at the accords which takes place every ten years. The problem with this is that the evil circle of shadow hunters thought that they rose higher than any other species so at an accords they sought to destroy all down worlders while they were at the accords but were finally defeated. The clave thought they had taken down the leader of the group valentinewhile in actuallity he was still alive just made evryone believe he was. The master of the three young shadow hunters was part of the evil circle but claimed when he joined he was just friends with valentine and was innocent and unfairly punished even though all three of the young shadow hunters parents were also in the circle but wnted out.

                                                           *SPOILER ALERT*

The mentor hodge in actuallity after this was still valentines right hand man after pretending to be still good. Hodge betrays the three young shadow hunters by after they find and rescue a powerful instruement that can be used to valentines advantage takes it from them while one is dying and one is watching over the dying one and nokes unconcious the third. Hodge is also a week coward because he does all of this to get his curse lifted and lets valentine take the unconcious shadow hunter even though he opposes it but lets him do it anyway because he's scared.
